Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival

The Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival brings Korea's most vibrant folk traditions to life over four days in October.

What it is

This festival celebrates Namsadang Nori, a UNESCO-recognized form of traditional Korean performance art, and honors Baudeogi, the first female troupe leader of the Joseon era. It's a deep dive into one of Korea's most dynamic cultural legacies, blending historical preservation with contemporary performances that draw visitors from around the world.

What to expect

You'll see jultagi (tightrope walking), Namsadang Nori performances, and a Baudeogi Theme Park alongside a Baudeogi Light Festival. The festival also features the Anseong Old Market, recreating the bustling atmosphere of one of Korea's three major Joseon-era marketplaces, plus performances from Korean and international artists that mix traditional and modern elements.

Good to know

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is completely free to enter. It takes place across Anseong Matchum Land and the Anseongcheon Stream area, so wear comfortable shoes and plan to explore multiple spaces.
